Many models people write about are successful for they're unique not because they are general. The generality of the written model is assumed by the writer and presumed by the reader. While it's not hard to see why the former may do so, the latter's behavior is puzzling.

Psychologists have documented our innate bias to explain the world in terms of stories, to "force" the facts along a narrative.

Recently, Nassim Nicholas Taleb, in The Black Swan, defined narrative fallacy as "our need to fit a story or pattern to a series of connected or disconnected facts".

So, while narratives definitely will sell for you, they won't help you build a business around.
